Corkscrew electrodes are safe to place in the scalp. This type of electrode provides extremely reliable electrode contact and thus artefact-free pick-up. The electrodes are available in different colours in order to simplify mounting.  Corkscrew electrodes are mainly used for transcranial stimulation, but can also be used for picking up EEG and SEP signals.
